Deputies in Alabama got a little help catching a suspected car thief and it's thanks to this grandmother.

Seventy-five-year-old Marcia Black was with her grandchildren in Limestone County.

When the suspect allegedly crashed his stolen car nearby- and approached her home. But he only got so far because she was waiting for him with her rifle.

"I walked out and said, 'Can I help you?' and he said, 'Yes, ma'am, I'd like to use your phone,'" Black said. "I mean I was just calm as could be. I knew what I was doing. I was in control."

"I wanted to keep him at a distance.  I didn't intend to kill him. I just wanted him to think that I would shoot him," she continued. "He wouldn't get down, so I shot in the air, and he realized I meant business, so he got down on his knees."

"He feared the deputy more than he did my rifle. And he jumped up and ran zigzag right across the field," she concluded.

"That's just amazing to me that I got to witness my grandmother in action," said granddaughter Allie Ruth Black.

Deputies later arrested and charged the suspect.
