79-year-old man dies after car hits him while crossing a DeLand street

DELAND, Fla. - A 79-year-old man died overnight after attempting to cross a DeLand street.

The man was attempting to cross the street from a center median when he was hit by a car.

The incident occurred on Saturday night in DeLand near Woodland Boulevard and Anita Street.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died. 

The driver stayed at the scene after the crash.
