FLORIDA LT. GOV. LOPEZ-CANTERA TO ENTER US SENATE RACE

Florida Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera is entering the race for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by his close friend Marco Rubio, who is running for president. Lopez-Cantera joins Republican Congressman Ron DeSantis, who has already declared. Democratic Congressmen Patrick Murphy and Alan Grayson are also running for the seat. The race is expected to draw national attention from both major parties and the media as it is seen as a possible Democratic pickup.

JUDGE ANULS 25-YEAR MARRIAGE OF U.S. REP. ALAN GRAYSON

A Florida judge has annulled the 25-year marriage of the Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Alan Grayson and Lolita Grayson. In his two-page order Tuesday, Judge Bob LeBlanc said the marriage is void since Lolita Grayson was married to another man at the time of her wedding to Alan Grayson in 1990. The judge dismissed Lolita Grayson's divorce petition but retained jurisdiction on other matters. The couple had agreed to get the annulment in April after an acrimonious, public legal battle.

FLORIDA MAN CHARGED WITH KEEPING 2 LOGGERHEAD TURTLES IN HOME FISH TANK

A Florida man has been cited for keeping two Loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings in an aquarium at his Jupiter home. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers said Tuesday that William Henry Jowett obtained the turtles from his backyard canal two months ago and put them in the aquarium for his daughter to see. Jowett said he planned on releasing the turtles, but changed his mind after growing attached to them.

ACTOR ADAM SANDLER INVITES FLORIDA TEEN WITH CANCER TO MOVIE SET

Actor Adam Sandler made a dream come true for a 19-year-old Florida teen after inviting him to hang on his movie set. Gaige Robbins, who is being treated for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, visited Sandler on his Georgia movie set Monday where the comedian is filming "The Do Over" with David Spade. Florida Today reports Robbins has had three chemo treatments and more than 30 radiation treatments since being diagnosed in 2014.

ART BASEL NAMES A DIRECTOR FOR THE AMERICAS

Art Basel has a new director who will concentrate solely on the art world in the Americas. The global organization which operates annual art fairs in Miami Beach, Switzerland and Hong Kong announced Tuesday that 35-year-old Noah Horowitz will begin the new position in August. He has been executive director of the Armory Show in New York for the past four years. The Miami Herald reports Art Basel Director Marc Spiegler says the organization's leaders had been discussing the value of having a director who could oversee art in the Americas.
