2 kids hurt by fireworks in Pine Hills
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Orange County Fire Rescue says two boys were playing on the street with fireworks that went-off unexpectedly. They wouldn't elaborate on how exactly that happened, but the aftermath was caught on a 911, where one boy was heard crying in the background.
“Tell them for right now, don't put any water on it and don't give him anything to drink, ok?” the dispatcher instructs the caller.
One of the boys tells dispatchers he's only eleven years old. Operators try to keep them calm. “Like I said, they're already on their way. Don't give him anything to drink. I know he's in pain. Just tell him to be still and wait for help to arrive, ok?” the dispatcher said.
There were still scraps of fireworks on the sidewalk near where the two boys were hurt. Neighbor Angela Wilson said fireworks are best when you can enjoy them from a safe distance.
“Go to the professionals. Leave that to the professionals. Kids shouldn't be doing it. I don't even like sparklers,” Wilson said.
Both boys were sent to Arnold Palmer Hospital for treatment, they said one was hurt more seriously than the other.
