2 arrested in Palm Bay corruption scandal

A former city leader and a local businessman are both in jail, accused of trying to use drugs and sex to extort Palm Bay city leaders.

Former Palm Bay deputy manager David Isnardi turning himself into the Brevard County jail to face charges.  The Florida Department of Law Enforcement saying Isnardi and businessman Jose Aguiar planned to install cameras in a house to record city leaders having sex with prostitutes.  They also planned to plant drugs in city leaders’ cars, according to the arrest warrant.

Investigators say Isnardi and Aguiar were business partners who wanted to make sure Palm Bay rezoned some land.  With the land rezoned they stood to make more than $600,000 according to the arrest warrant.

Brevard County commissioner Bryan Lober is representing Isnardi and says his client will fight the charges.

The FBI began investigating Isnardi and Aguiar in 2015 before bringing in FDLE.  The pair is scheduled to have their first court hearing Saturday morning.
