16-year-old female shot during altercation

Around 7:19pm on Tuesday, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a person had been shot in Cocoa, FL. A shooter injured a young female during an altercation. 

Their investigation determined that the shooting incident stemmed from an earlier disturbance between a male who lived at the residence with another male. Soon after the initial disturbance, several people returned to the Grace Avenue residence, where a second altercation began.

During this altercation, the sheriff's office says that a firearm was discharged injuring a 16-year-old female, who was rushed to a local hospital. The hospital currently has the 16-year-old female listed in serious but stable condition.

The Sheriff’s Office is still in the process of gathering further evidence surrounding the shooting. Updates will be provided as more information is released.
