10-year-old dies in mobile home fire, five others escaped

The Marion County Sheriff's Office reported via Facebook that a 10-year-old has died in a mobile home fire. 

Police say that at 2:58 on Thursday, the sheriff's office received a call for service regarding an active fire at a mobile home in Ocklawaha.

Upon arrival, deputies say the residence was fully engulfed and firefighters were working to extinguish the falmes.

The post states that five people escaped the fire, but a 10-year-old juvenile was still inside. 

When the fire was finally extinguished, the 10-year-old was reportedly located inside the home and deceased.

Police say that a one-year-old that escaped the fire was airlifted to UF Health in Gainesville and is currently in stable condition.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshall and Marion County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes detectives are investigating the death of the child.
