10-year-old Orlando boy airlifted to hospital after mini-bike crash

The Brief

    • On Sunday afternoon, a child was airlifted to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital after being injured in a mini-bike crash.
    • The DeLand Police Department responded to the crash around 5 p.m. and investigated the cause of the incident.
    • The child is currently being treated for serious injuries.

ORLANDO, Fla. - A 10-year-old boy was airlifted to a children's hospital after colliding with a vehicle in DeLand on Sunday evening.

Timeline:

Around 4:47 p.m., the boy was riding a small motorcycle, known as a mini-bike, and was traveling southbound towards Orator Lane, according to the DeLand Police Department (DPD).

A Volkswagen traveling northbound and approaching Orator Lane collided with the boy as they both entered the intersection. 

The boy sustained serious injuries from the crash and was transported to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. 

The crash is still under investigation.
