1 dead in DeLand shooting

DELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in DeLand, which happened just before 2 p.m. at a residence on Walts Avenue.  

Investigators said Trevon Taylor, 30, was shot and killed in broad daylight.  

After receiving information from eyewitnesses, Volusia Sheriff's deputies assisted DeLand Police officers in apprehending a possible suspect, who has been identified as Juan Lopez, 18, DeLand. 

"There is a possible firearm that was also taken into evidence, and this was made in cooperation with the Sheriff's Office," said Chris Graham with the DeLand Police Department. 

Graham said the weapon was recovered near the scene of the shooting. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
