1 dead, 2 injured in Orlando apartment shooting

One person is dead and two are injured following a shooting incident in Orlando.

Orlando police officers responded to the Mill Creek Apartments, near the intersection of S. Semoran Blvd. and Hoffner Ave., around 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, where it was reported that multiple shots had been fired at an apartment unit and near the clubhouse.

There was a large police presence just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.  A witness said the victims worked at the complex, adding that she heard arguing before the shots were fired.

Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolón said victims were transported to the hospital, including the person believed to be responsible for the shooting.

"We believe this is a situation we have contained. We're not looking for anyone else right now, we're just trying to figure out why it happened," Chief Rolón explained.

"I heard three shots," said Valeria Fortune, who witnessed the shooting that claimed the life of an employee at the apartment complex. "He was being shot at. He was running trying to get to the office."

Residents said the shooting happened outside the gate of the swimming pool area.

"We see these guys everyday. Say hello, or they come to your apartment to do repairs. It breaks my heart, because these people with these weapons, they're not conscious of the pain they're causing," Fortune added.

Police have not officially identified the victims or the suspect.  The conditions of those injured were not released.
