Orlando weather: Strong cold front to bring rain and severe storms on Sunday

A strong cold front is moving through the region today, bringing torrential rain and strong to severe storms. With that, Sunday is an IMPACT DAY. Gusty wind is the main concern with these storms, but we can't rule out a spin-up tornado.

What to expect: As this cold front pushes to the SE through the day, chances for rain will start to drop off.  The storms this AM are from some lift out ahead of the main cold front, with the boundary sliding through later on this evening. That could bring a few light to moderate showers.

Highs today rise back into the 70s before dropping off in a big way overnight. Lows tumbled back into the 30s and 40s heading into early Monday AM.

COLD AIR TAKES OVER, WINTER WEATHER THREAT ACROSS NW FLORIDA
What's next: Bundle up on Monday! The NW breeze continues to usher in this modified Arctic airmass, with highs only in the 40s and 50s. This chill sets the stage for another storm system that moves our way Tuesday. An area of low pressure develops in the Gulf and shifts to the NE into midweek.

Temperatures look to be just cold enough for snow across the Panhandle of Florida with some accumulations possible! A coating of possibly an inch or two is on the table, depending on how far to the NW you live.

To the SE, some ice is possible across our FOX 51 communities. This could make for really tough travel conditions on Wednesday AM. That is why it's an IMPACT DAY.

It all depends on the exact track of the low and how much the atmosphere can cool. For the Orlando Metro, it'll be cold rain with highs in the lower to middle 50s. This system pulls away on Thursday, but the front looks to hang up across the state, making for hit or miss showers. High pressure finally builds back in with more sunshine on the table from Friday into Saturday. Highs look to stay below normal, with readings near 60° through Saturday.
