FOX 35 Weather Alert Day: Risk for severe storms to continue into Monday

FOX 35 has declared Monday a FOX 35 Weather Alert Day for Central Florida which could be extended into Tuesday.

Showers made their way across Central Florida on Sunday, some with very strong thunderstorms with gusty winds and plenty of rain.

As we head into the late night of Sunday, there will be some light rain showers.

All eyes were the Daytona International Speedway on Sunday as the 63rd running of the Daytona 500 began. The race was paused around 4:30 p.m. as storms rolled in, drenching the track. Drivers were called back to their cars around 9 p.m. for the race to resume.

But the storms are not done yet.

Monday will also serve up active storms, some of which could turn severe. Monday brings another FOX 35 Weather Alert Day as a Marginal Risk of severe storms is indicated then.

The FOX 35 Weather Team will be tracking this for you from start to finish.
