Woman killed in shooting in Apopka, deputies say

Orange County deputies are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Monday evening in Apopka.

What we know:

Deputies responded around 5:30 p.m., May 25, to a residence on South Central Avenue, finding a woman – later identified as Olinka Jabitta, 56, – suffering from a gunshot wound, the sheriff's office said. 

She was taken to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries. 

Neighbors told FOX 35 they heard multiple gunshots and described ongoing problems at the property where the shooting happened. One nearby resident shared surveillance video that captured the sound of gunfire, including two shots separated by several seconds.

Several neighbors said there have been previous incidents involving gunfire in the area. One homeowner said their house had been struck by bullets during earlier incidents.

Deputies were seen detaining at least one woman in handcuffs on Monday night, but the sheriff’s office has not confirmed whether an arrest has been made or whether the person is connected to the shooting.
