Woman caught in crossfire during park shooting

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting incident on Thursday afternoon at Orla Vista Park, which left two injured.

When deputies arrived at the scene around 2 p.m., they discovered a woman, seated in her van in the parking lot and suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.  It is believed that the woman was caught in the crossfire of a gun fight between another shooting victim, described as a 21-year-old man, and the driver of a vehicle that drove into the park.

Authorities said the 21-year-old man has been uncooperative in the investigation.  The female victim is an employee of Greater Oasis Christian Academy and is being described as an innocent bystander.  Both received non-life threatening injuries and were treated at ORMC.

This case is active and open and no further information is available at this time.
