Woman, 79, charged in hit-and-run crash

A 79-year-old Brevard County woman is facing hit-and-run charges, after troopers say she struck a motorcyclist.

Investigators say Rosalie Kascmer-Ryan crashed into a man on a motorcycle last week, injuring him with her red convertible.  It happened at U.S. Highway 1 and Viera Blvd. Troopers say, she then left the scene.  According to investigators, the victim later posted about the crash on Facebook, and the post went viral.

The owner of a body shop called authorities after seeing the post, telling troopers that a red
car with the same damage description was dropped off for repairs.

According to the arrest report, Kascmer-Ryan told investigators that she was the one who was hit and waited for someone to approach but left when no one came to her car.

However troopers say, witnesses on the scene told them, that the red car was at fault and took off, Kascmer-Ryan later surrendered to authorities.  The trooper who made the arrest says this was the oldest driver he has ever charged in a hit-and-run.

We tried talking to the victim at home, but his parents told us that he's still recovering.
