MEDWAY, MA - The wife of a fallen Marine giving a current Marine's family a surprise holiday homecoming.
21-year-old Marine Lance Corporal Benjamin Bauman has been away from home for two years, but now he's home for Christmas to surprise his family....
And it is all thanks to a stranger who funded his holiday homecoming.
Hero helpers of America reaching out to Erin Vasselian - who runs a non-profit named after her late husband Sergeant Daniel Vasselian, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2013.
Vasselian flew Bauman from California to Massachusetts when she found out he could not afford to go home for the holidays.
And his family could not be happier to see their hero.
Nancy Bauman, Benjamin’s mother said, "I have not hugged him for two years since he got home from Afghanistan"
"I miss my family so much it’s amazing to be home,” Benjamin said.
Lauren Eliopoulos with Heroes Helpers of America said, “It's what Christmas is about for me. The day my brother joined the military my life changed.”
Benjamin said, "It means so much that people care about veterans."
Bauman returned home with gifts, including his new wife Hailey and their soon-to-be baby boy due in February.
