'Plastic-y smell': Witness describes fire at Epcot

A fire broke out at Epcot on Tuesday evening near the American Adventure Pavilion. Brian Cambold, with Theme Park War, recorded video of the fire and share his video and observations with FOX 35 News.

One of the buildings in Walt Disney World's EPCOT World Showcase caught fire earlier this week, according to video recorded by someone visiting the park.

Brian Cambold, of Theme Park War, a website that tracks updates at Florida's top theme parks, said the fire appeared to start after EPCOT's Harmonious nighttime fireworks show, and appeared to be one of the buildings at American Adventure Pavilion or the Italy Pavilion. From his vantage point, it was difficult to tell specifically, he said.

He said the fire happened Tuesday night. Video shows one of the buildings on fire and smoke in the air, though not entirely clear if it was new smoke or smoke lingering from the fireworks spectacular.

FOX 35 reached out to Disney and Orange County fire department for information, but did not immediately hear back.

"It did smell like a plastic-y smell. It was not like a wood-burning fire or anything like that, so it was definitely some sort of structure that caught on fire," he said, adding that it did not take long for firefighters to extinguish the flames.
