A twist of fate brought two men together months after one of the men saved the other's life.

Sam Palacio, a donor services team leader and phlebotomist at OneBlood, was finishing his workout at Planet Fitness in Palm Bay when a man next to him suffered a massive heart attack.

Palacio jumped into action, giving the man CPR for upwards of 15 minutes. He also helped paramedics when they arrived.

The man he saved, Mike DuBois, was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery. It was discovered he had 100 percent blockage of an artery to his heart. Doctors were able to insert a stent to clear the blockage.

While DuBois was recovering, he wanted to find the man who saved his life. As luck would have it, his best friend, Richard Hood, knew Palacio.

Hood is a long-time blood donor and donates regularly on the bloodmobile where Palacio works.

When Hood showed up to donate, he began telling Palacio about DuBois and how a man saved his life. Palacio, of course, knew the story well.

With the mystery solved, OneBlood brought DuBois, Palacio and Hood together.
