Tribute to Winter Park teen who died in Central Park

Winter Park High School Principal Tim smith spoke to hundreds of people who came out to Central Park Wednesday night to remember student Roger Trindade.

"We are thankful that he was apart of our school and our community," said Smith to the crowd in a ceremony following the school's homecoming parade.

A sea of people gathered for a moment of silence for the 15-year-old who died of injuries he sustained during a fight at the park, police say.

"The kids are sad, their hearts are aching, they work together, that's what Winter Park High School is all about, the community and the school is united." Says Smith.

Winter Park Police have released few details about what happened but say they know who was involved in the fight and have questioned them. Police also say that the medical examiner will find out what exactly caused the teen's death.   In the meantime, the principal says grief counselors are available at the school.

"If we have a student who needs that support we certainly provide that and we had quite a bit of activity last week."
