Tracking Coronavirus: Florida cases surpass 40,500; deaths rise to 1,721; and more

Below is a log of the day's events as it relates to the global coronavirus pandemic. 

12:00 p.m. -- The latest numbers from state health officials show that there have been 40,596 cases of COVID-19 in Florida, resulting in a death toll of 1,721. That is an additional 595 cases and six deaths since Saturday morning. Read more HERE.

Global cases of coronavirus now exceed four million, according to John Hopkins University. Their death toll also nears 280,000 worldwide.
