'Suspicious' package cleared at Orlando mosque
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Authorities say a suspicious item, found near an Orlando mosque, has been deemed safe. Police officers and firefighters responded to Masjid al-Ihsaan, at 6630 Pershing Ave., shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday. Pershing Avenue, between Goldenrod Road and Semoran Boulevard remained closed for about two hours as officials investigated.
According to a spokesperson with the Orlando Police Department, some nearby buildings were evacuated and a bomb squad was called to the scene. Authorities cleared the scene around 7 p.m.
