Suspect leads deputies and officers on chase, found with drugs
SILVER SPRINGS SHORES, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL - On Saturday, the Marion County Sheriff's Office says that Deputy Christian Guerra was conducting proactive security at the Pryme Nightclub on Silver Springs Shores when he observed a driver, later identified as 24-year-old Patrick Rodriguez Emanuel, commit a traffic infraction and saw that there was an alert on the vehicle's tag due to the driver having a suspended license.
They say that Deputy Guerra attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Emanuel fled. A pursuit was initiated and Deputy Guerra was joined by other deputies, the Marion County Sheriff's Office Air one, K9 units, and Belleview Police Department officers to pursue th suspect.
Deputy Guerra, according to the sheriff's office, conducted a successful P.I.T. maneuver and disabled Emanuel's vehicle at the intersection of Maricamp and Baseline Roads. Emanuel then ran through a wooded area on foot and K9 Deputy Alan Lee and his K9 partner "Zeus" were able to track directly to Emanuel's location with the help of Deputy Guerra and Air One.
Emanuel was reportedly taken into custody without incident. Deputies later found found Methamphetamine, Heroin and other drugs in Emanuel's vehicle.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office says that after reviewing dash camera video, Deputy Guerra saw that Emanuel was wearing a backpack when he bailed out of his car after the PIT maneuver, but he did not have the backpack on his person when he was apprehended. With the help of Air One's video, deputies were able to pinpoint where Emanuel dropped his backpack and located it on Monday morning. A crack pipe was found inside the backpack.
Emanuel has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving with no Valid Driver's License, Resisting without Violence, and Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer while Lights and Sirens Activated.
Emanuel also had an outstanding warrant for VOP: Possession of Marijuana less than 20 grams. He was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.
