Surfer bitten by shark in New Smyrna Beach
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A 17-year-old boy was bitten by a shark in New Smyrna Beach this afternoon.
The incident happened just around noon Saturday.
Volusia County Beach Safety says that the boy was surfing new the jetty when he was bitten in the hand by the shark.
Officers say that it was a minor injury and he refused medical transport.
We're told he was later taken to the hospital by his parents.
