Summer means new attractions at theme parks

Summer is almost here and Orlando’s big 3 theme parks are bringing it with new attractions to draw crowds to the gates.

Universal Studios is first to the starting line with their newest offering: Fast and Furious Supercharged open now at their main park. The ride, based on the hit movie series, brings fans a new adventure and a fast virtual line to get in sooner.

“You’re going to be in these giant vehicles and you’re going to go through sets – screens on either side – a big adventure,” said Banks Lee from Attractions Magazine.

Also new at Universal this summer the Voodoo Doughnuts shop in City Walk and a new hotel opening at the campus.

Disney may have the largest list of new openings lead by the highly anticipated Toy Story Land inside Hollywood Studios and opening June 30.

“Two brand new attractions are going to be inside: Slinky Dog’s Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers. As well as a lot of fun surrounded by your friends you’re familiar with from Toy Story,” said Disney Ambassador Brandon Peters.

Additionally, the house of the mouse will open new attractions in each of their major parks including the Tomorrowland Expo at Magic Kingdom, Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Live show at Epcot, and Up! Great Bird Adventure at Animal Kingdom. A full guide to Disney’s new attractions can be found here: http://wdwnews.com/releases/incredible-summer/

Last but not least, Seaworld is giving visitors a new way to beat the heat with their new ride Infinity Falls opening mid-summer.

“It’s over a 5 minute ride-adventure. You’re going to be going through some roaring whitewater rapids,” said Seaworld Director of Theme Park Development John Hornick. “Add a 40 foot drop: it’s the world’s tallest drop on this type of a ride. It’s incorporating really all of the great highlights of river rapids attractions from around the world.”

Leaders at the park said the ride will be a throwback to classic river rapid rides with the latest ride technology and an in-depth story added in.

This summer’s offerings may just be a teaser for the large list already announced next year. Some of the big names already coming to the parks in 2019: Sesame Street Land at Seaworld, a new Harry Potter ride at Universal, and Star Wars Land at Disney.
