The driver of a stolen semi-truck was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after leading the California Highway Patrol on a chase across the Inland Empire.

Authorities said the truck was stolen in Barstow. Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop at about 10:30 a.m. in Apple Valley, but the driver refused to stop and a pursuit began.

The driver reportedly told authorities he is not armed and does not want to go back to jail.

The pursuit traveled from the Apple Valley area to Yucca Valley. The suspect eventually merged onto the 10 Freeway and pulled off at a rest stop to surrender.

The semi-truck appeared to belong to ACTenviro, which handles "hazardous waste and environmental management needs," according to the company website.
