Semi-truck flips, spilling large beams across westbound I-4 at Orange Blossom Trail

All lanes of Interstate 4 (I-4) westbound were shut down at Orange Blossom Trail on Tuesday morning after a semi-truck flipped over, spilling large beams across the roadway. The lanes have since re-opened.

The Orlando Police Department says that at 6 a.m.,  officers responded to I-4 West over Orange Blossom Trail in response to an overturned semi-truck hauling large metal warehouse roof trusses. Witness reportedly said that the truck may have been traveling faster than the speed limit, as well as the load being too top heavy on one side.

Police went on to say that the the truck struck the inside barrier wall at the turn over Orange Blossom Trail, causing the truck to lose control, flip on its side, then slide to rest, blocking all lanes of travel. This is a single vehicle crash and the occupants inside the truck cab sustained minor injuries. They were not transported to a hospital.

The incident, occurring just south of Downtown Orlando, caused major delays. Drivers were at a complete stand still and SkyFOX even captured some drivers walking outside of their cars, trying to to figure out the details of the situation.

Crews on scene had the wreckage and spill cleaned before noon, allowing to the roads to re-open.
