Secret Service: Suspicious package in area of Lafayette Square near White House deemed safe
WASHINGTON - A suspicious package reported in the area of Pennsylvania Avenue and Lafayette Square nearby the White House has been "deemed safe," the Secret Service says.
Pedestrian and vehicle traffic was impacted in the area as the White House North Fence Line was closed during the investigation. Also, H Street, NW, between 15th and 17th Streets and Pennsylvania Avenue between 15th and 17th Streets were also shut down.
D.C. police say they were assisting the Secret Service with the incident.
