A man in a pickup truck led Los Angeles police on a chase Tuesday in the South Los Angeles area before crashing into a power pole and surrendering.

The chase began about 10:30 a.m., when officers tried to make a traffic stop because the man was driving recklessly, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The chase led onto the Harbor (110) Freeway, where the driver exited at Manchester Avenue about 10:50 a.m. At one point, the pickup crashed into a parked vehicle.

The driver kept going, ending up in the general area of Manchester Avenue and Broadway, where the truck hit a power pole on a dead-end street. The motorist, who was not immediately identified, then got out and surrendered.
