Recall: Publix says popcorn chicken could contain 'foreign material'

Publix is recalling its deli popcorn chicken because it could be contaminated with "foreign material."

Publix Super Markets said the voluntarily recalled chicken was sold in both hot and refrigerated cases in the deli department in all Publix stores in Florida, and some stores in southern Georgia, southern and coastal South Carolina, and southern Alabama.

The chicken originated from Pilgrim's Pride, which does business under the name Pierce Chicken, and was sold in stores between Jan. 17 and Jan. 31.

In a statement posted on its website, Publix said the product has been removed from store shelves.

"Customers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund," the statement said.

Publix customers with additional questions may call 1-800-242-1227 or visit www.publix.com.
