A 23-year-old pregnant woman has given birth after she and her boyfriend were shot Monday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Both victims were taken to Stroger Hospital. The woman was initially in serious condition and the man was in critical. Neighbors had said the woman was 9 months pregnant and due this month.

Crystal Meyer, 23, delivered the baby Monday night by cesarean. She is now in critical condition. The condition of the baby is unknown.

Residents in Back of the Yards were stunned to see three people shot in their neighborhood this holiday weekend.

Just after 3 p.m. Monday, police say Meyer and 25-year-old Albert Moore were sitting outside when someone walked up to them and started firing. She was shot in the stomach and he was shot in the back.

Neighbors say it's been a violent 24 hours.

"It’s not good, it's not good, this is the second day, yesterday there was a shooting over here,” a neighbor said.

One block from Monday’s shooting at 53rd and Sangamon, a 19-year-old man was found shot to death.

"It’s just too much going on and it's not safe, I don't feel safe," the neighbor said.

The violence on Monday started much earlier in the day when an 80-year-old man was shot and killed outside his retirement home in south shore. Residents say the victim was a retired minister. Police told FOX 32 he was killed by another resident of the home.

And a few hours later, Chicago police swat team responded to a possible standoff in Englewood. Police say one man was killed and another wounded near 68th and Emerald.

SWAT searched a home where a shooter was believed to be held up, but no one was inside.

Community activist Ja'Mal Green says he knows the victims.

"It's not surprising. It's normal and that's the bad thing that it's so normal for someone to get shot in Chicago,” Green said.

And the violence has not slowed down as of Monday night. Multiple victims have come to Stroger.
