Wanted man prompts standoff in Altamonte Springs

A man accused of fighting a woman and then firing a shot at her before taking off has prompted a standoff in the Altamonte Springs area Wednesday morning, according to police.

A man accused of fighting a woman and then firing a shot at her before taking off prompted a standoff in the Altamonte Springs area Wednesday morning, according to police.

The situation happened in the area of Magnolia Street and Oak Avenue. The man reportedly ran into a house and later left. 

Police said they are still pursuing leads to find him. 

The incident began around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in Eatonville after a man and a woman got into an argument. Officers said the man – whose identity has not been released – physically assaulted her and fired a shot at her but missed.

Chopper video: Police presence in Altamonte Springs

SKYFOX is flying over the scene of a large law enforcement presence in an Altamonte Springs neighborhood. The incident is unfolding in the area of Magnolia Street and Oak Avenue.

He then sped off in a white Dodge Charger and was later spotted in the car by Seminole County deputies in the Altamonte Springs area, officials said. 

The home in Altamonte Springs the man is believed to have been inside of will remain an active scene for several hours, according to police.
