Road rage dispute leads to shooting at Palm Coast McDonald’s
A 61-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition after a road rage dispute ended in a shooting at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Palm Coast, authorities said.
FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. - One person was injured after a shooting Tuesday night at a McDonald's in Palm Coast, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting, described by investigators as a road rage incident, happened shortly after 10 p.m. outside the restaurant at the intersection of Palm Coast Parkway and Belle Terre Parkway.
What we know:
Deputies responded to the scene around 10:20 p.m. after multiple 911 callers reported a reckless driver, a road rage confrontation and gunfire, authorities said.
When deputies arrived, they found several people, including a 50-year-old Palm Coast man investigators say fired the shots and a 61-year-old Daytona North man suffering from facial injuries and multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics from the Palm Coast Fire Department and Flagler County Fire Rescue treated the injured man at the scene before he was flown to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where he was listed in stable condition. The shooter was also taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment.

Investigators said the confrontation began as a road rage incident involving the shooter and other people on Belle Terre Parkway before escalating in the McDonald’s parking lot. Authorities said the other individuals involved in the earlier dispute were not directly involved in the shooting.

Detectives say they are continuing to investigate whether there was any relationship between the people involved.

"Our deputies, detectives, and crime scene investigators worked throughout the night and are still working diligently to investigate the circumstances surrounding this case," Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement. "We have identified all persons involved, and there is no threat to the community."
