Woman accused of damaging federal vehicle during ICE protest
A 23-year-old woman was arrested during an immigration protest in Orlando after authorities said she damaged a federal agent’s vehicle, while sheriff’s officials described the demonstrations as largely peaceful.
ORLANDO, Fla. - An arrest was made during an ICE protest outside the Orlando ICE office, Friday afternoon.
The Orange County Sheriff's office arrested a woman during an ICE protest in Orlando. About 50 protesters were present around 2 p.m. on Jan. 23.

In a statement to FOX 35, OCSO said the protest was almost exclusively peaceful when a woman – described to be in her 20s or 30s – approached a federal agent, who was in their car, and hit the law enforcement vehicle.

Protesters were shouting the same message to apparent ICE agents, saying, "We do not want you here in Orlando," FOX 35's Chancelor Winn reported.

The woman was arrested for assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
Florida Highway Patrol reported that troopers were present to ensure everyone's safety. They're on the scene to protect protesters' rights, while monitoring overall public safety, a FHP spokesperson said.
OCSO said the right to free speech is protected, but the destruction of property or violence against any member of our community is not protected.

"Any attempt to assault, stop, block, or otherwise hinder any law enforcement officers from doing their jobs will not be tolerated," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "I want to assure everyone in our community that our deputies will always respond to ensure the safety of those who are exercising their rights peacefully."
