Owner loses store of eight years after fire breaks out overnight

Firefighters battled flames overnight at a Daytona Beach Shores store.

The fire broke out at the Fantasy Beachwear shop on Atlantic Avenue just after midnight. Officials said that a police officer driving by saw smoke coming out of the back and called it in.

The owner of the store arrived shortly after firefighters managed to put out the flames. He said that he is in shock that the store he has owned for around eight years is a total loss. He also said that whatever wasn't burned has been damaged by smoke.

Motaz Mozayan, the owner, is ensure of what to do next, but stated that "I don't know. I really don't know. I guess see how bad it is -- a total loss. What are we going to do? Clean up and rebuild, I guess."

Mozayan says that he does not have insurance for the business. He did not mention if the smoke detectors or sprinklers were working.

The fire marshal was on scene early on Monday morning. There is still no word on what caused the fire.
