Orlando Weather: Record breaking heat coming to Central Florida?

Florida is experiencing unseasonably warm weather with temperatures a few degrees below 100 expected Thursday.  "It's going to be really toasty tomorrow, but not super humid," FOX 35's Noah Bergren predicted on May 6.  As a heat dome moves across the gulf, Orlando will experience the hottest temperatures.

While Atlanta will have 73-degree weather and Charleston 80 degrees, Orlando is predicted to be 97 degrees. 

Thursday, May 7 weather in Central Florida

On Thursday, May 7, temperatures are expected to be near 100 degrees throughout Central Florida. Areas on the coast – New Smyrna, Cocoa and Melbourne – will be cooler. 

  • Palm Coast: 96 degrees
  • Daytona Beach: 96 degrees
  • New Smyrna: 94 degrees
  • Sanford: 96 degrees
  • Leesburg: 95 degrees
  • Orlando: 96 degrees
  • Kissimmee: 95 degrees
  • St. Cloud: 95 degrees
  • Winter Haven: 95 degrees

While Florida experiences hot temperatures, the cold continues in northern regions of the U.S. 

What's next:

Temperatures will remain hot for the weekend – 92 degrees on Friday, 94 degrees on Saturday and 94 degrees on Sunday – cloud coverage will reduce temperatures slightly. Thundershowers are also expected this weekend.
