Orlando Weather Forecast PM: August 22, 2025
FOX 35 Storm Team Senior Meteorologist Noah Bergren is tracking a high chance for weekend thunderstorms across central Florida.
A weak front is stalled across the Southeast and that will keep our rain chances elevated as we kick off the weekend. Along the beaches, there is still a risk of dangerous surf and rip currents due to Hurricane Erin.
Tonight's weather forecast
What to expect:
Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to continue this evening, before tapering off early tonight. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid-70s under a mix of clouds and stars.
What will the weather be like on Saturday?
What to expect:
The stalled front and lingering moisture will keep rain chances high. Expect widespread afternoon showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon. The offshore flow will continue to keep any storms developing moving from the west to the east.
Highs will reach the upper 80s to low 90s, with heat index values in the low 100s. Storms may produce heavy rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning.
The Coke Zero Sugar 400 forecast
There is a 40% chance of early evening showers in Daytona Beach for the Coke Zero Sugar 400. Skies are expected to clear with lows in the upper 70s.
What will the weather be like on Sunday?
What to expect:
Similar conditions persist to end the weekend with a 70% chance of afternoon storms. Highs remain in the low 90s, and humidity will keep it feeling steamy. Storms will again be capable of producing torrential rain and lightning as well as brief gusty wind.
Next week's forecast
Looking Ahead:
The unsettled weather pattern continues into early next week as the weak front remains parked over the region. Daily afternoon storms are likely, with highs in the low 90s and heat index values in the low 100s. Rain chances look to dip slightly as this front attempts to shift to the SE as another front works in from the NW. This one drops our temps just a touch with highs topping out near 90° midweek. Rain chances fall to near 40% before popping back up to end the workweek.
Tracking the Topics
What to expect:
Hurricane Erin has moved into cooler waters and is forecast to become a post-tropical system by the start of the weekend. It's still expected to keep the rip current risk elevated across our local beaches as well as the Eastern Seaboard as a whole.
Meanwhile, a tropical wave near the Leeward Islands has a high chance of development. Environmental conditions appear favorable and a tropical depression or storm could form by the weekend. This system, thankfully, doesn't look to have any direct impact on the U.S.
Another wave in the Central Atlantic now has a 40% chance of development over the next week. This one will need to be watched as well as it looks to work closer to the Caribbean into the first half of next week.
