ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Students at an Orlando high school honored those we lost on September 11th, 2001.
Dr. Phillips High School said that they held their 6th Annual Memorial Tribute to commemorate the tragic event on Wednesday.
They said that the cadets from the school's Air Force Junior ROTC participated in the ceremony as faculty, staff, teachers, and students attended.
The flag was reportedly raised as the National Anthem played. Sergeant Menachem Green of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office gave a speech as the keynote speaker. He was fresh out of boot camp when he volunteered to work at ground zero in the days after 9/11. Afterwards, he became an active duty member of the U.S. Army and later became an Orange County deputy.
Members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Orlando Police Department, the Orlando Fire Department and Orange County Fire Rescue also were said to have attended.
