Orlando police searching for gunman after man is shot dead in the street
ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Orlando police are searching for suspects after someone was shot and killed early Friday morning.
An officer patrolling the area of Westmoreland Drive near Robinson Street in the Parramore neighborhood heard a gunshot and quickly got to the scene around 2:20 a.m. where he found a man lying in the road with a bullet wound to his torso.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said they do not believe this was a random shooting and that the suspect and victim likely knew each other.
"We're canvassing the neighborhood," Orlando Police Department Lt. Frank Chisari tells Fox 35. "We're asking for people if they've seen something, if they saw something suspicious. We just need people to come forward with any information they have."
The suspect is still at large. Police have not said if they have a description of the person they are looking for.
This is still an active investigation and more details could be released throughout the day.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
