One shot in Orange County attempted robbery

Orlando Police are trying to identify two men seen on surveillance footage, who say they tried to rob a man at a Speedway gas station, then shot him. It happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Fortunately, the victim's injuries aren't life-threatening, and he's expected to recover. The Speedway gas station is on Kirkman and MetroWest. Eric Gonzalez, who lives in the area, said the violence is getting out of control.

“I think it's bad, bad for our community, bad for our neighborhoods, bad for our kids,” Gonzalez said.

Hector Nevado said he was at the gas station just before the attack. “MetroWest used to be a nice, quiet community, but lately I don't know what's going on."

Nevado said it worries him. “Not to feel safe, just to get gas or anything you need in the store, it's not a good feeling,” he said, “I'm thinking about moving from this area or moving up north. And it's sad, Orlando's a nice place to live.”

The suspects ran after shooting the man, they were last seen getting into a car. Cops say anyone who recognizes the men or knows anything about the shooting should call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
