New westbound I-4 lanes near JYP to open April 5

The traffic shift of the westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) travel lanes between Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. 17-92/441) and John Young Parkway has been rescheduled to open as soon as the morning of April 5.

The half-mile shift will straighten out westbound I-4 that had been temporarily moved several times to accommodate an assortment of construction activities. In this area, I-4 Ultimate crews have built the westbound I-4 travel lanes, an on-ramp from Orange Blossom Trail, an overpass bridge at Rio Grande Avenue and sound barrier walls.

To accommodate the traffic shift, motorists should expect westbound I-4 lane closures beginning as soon as 9 p.m. on April 4. The westbound I-4 on-ramp from Orange Blossom Trail and the westbound I-4 exit ramp to John Young Parkway are scheduled to close from 10 p.m. on April 4 until 5 a.m. the next morning.

The detour route for the closure of the westbound I-4 on-ramp from Orange Blossom Trail is to use the on-ramp from Kaley Avenue. The detour route for the closure of the westbound I-4 exit ramp to John Young Parkway (Exit 79) is use the exit ramp to Conroy Road (Exit 78).
