New details on man shot by Orlando police officers

New details have emerged about the man who was killed after shooting at police in Downtown Orlando on Wednesday.

Investigators say Qawi Muhammad is the person who violated a restraining order, fired at police, and was shot dead by officers.  They say Sgt. Troy Achey and Detective Shane Overfield, escaped injury during the shooting.

According to records, Muhammad is a sex offender with a long criminal history that includes sex battery, kidnapping for ransom, robbery and grand theft. He's also been arrested for domestic violence.

Bob DeArmas says Muhammad stayed in this Altamonte Springs neighborhood with his ex-girlfriend a year ago.

"I've seen the policemen there a couple of times and was like, he's got to go.  They loaded him up and left."

According to court records, Muhammad tried to strangle and kidnap the woman who lived on his block.
This man who did not want to show his face says, that woman asked for his help, afraid Muhammad would return.

"That if he shows up to call 911 and if he came in her house we had her permission to remove him.
He kicked in the door and ran in and we went in and proceeded to remove him from the house."

In this latest case, police say Wahlburgers employees protected the victim and called for help.
They say Muhummad violated a domestic violence injunction.

"I think it's sick. I won't lay a hand on my wife," says DeArmas.

One of the owners at Walhburgers says, she asked police to watch over the business just in case. She's proud of her employees and plans to have active shooter training.
