Mother speaks in trial of father who allegedly killed son

ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - 5-year-old Daell Avant Jr.'s mother took the stand yesterday, describing what happened the day her son died.

Prosecutors say a week before Christmas in 2013, the 5-year-old got in trouble at school. They say his mother asked the boy's father to pick him up, adding that this was the last time she saw him alive.

Officials say that Avant Jr. died from blunt force trauma and that his dad waited 37 minutes to call 911 after the 5-year-old became unresponsive. Read more about the incident HERE.
