Military mom surprises son at preschool

TAYLOR, Texas - A Texas preschooler got the surprise of his young life: his military mom, home early from deployment overseas.

John Chapman filed into his school's cafeteria this week, expecting nothing unusual.

The 4-year-old was among students being honored for hard work in this latest school year.

But he got more than just an award.

He got his mother, Marina.

"I know growing up my mom, she did that for us, and once I joined the military I wasn't sure whether or not I'd be able to have the same experiences with him, so I'm definitely happy to have been able to come out and see him get some awards," Marina Chapman said.

She was able to come home early to surprise her son on his big day.
