Mercedes-Benz recalls more than 6,000 vehicles over warning light issue

Mercedes-Benz is recalling more than 6,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to an issue with the warning light, officials said. 

recall notice dated April 17 and posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warns of how an incorrectly displayed warning light can fail to alert the driver to critical safety information – increasing the risk of a crash.

What we know:

Mercedes-Benz is recalling certain 2025 G 550, G 580, and AMG G 63 vehicles, according to the NHSTA notice.

It states that the recalled vehicles’ electronic stability program (ESP) can display "an incorrect warning light during an ESP system failure."  As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with the federal vehicle safety requirements, the notice added.

By the numbers:

A total of 6,247 vehicles have been recalled as part of the issue.

What's next:

Dealers will update the ESP control unit software free of charge, the notice said. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 17, 2025.
