This week, video of a little boy helping an elderly woman climb some stairs quickly went viral. FOX 5 was honored to meet the young southern gentleman, Maurice, and his mother.

"I just wanted to help her," 8-year-old Maurice Adams Jr. told FOX 5. "I said, 'Mom, can I go help her please?'"

Maurice was in the car with his mom when they spotted the elderly woman. They pulled the car over to the side of the road, and Maurice quickly jumped out.

"I got out of the car," Maurice said, recalling how he gently held the stranger. "Pushing her back up the stairs."

The Milledgeville boy said when they got to the top of the stairs, the gracious woman gave him a hug.

"I just wanted to make sure she got up the stairs and didn't fall down," he said.

The act was so heartwarming that it caught the attention of others passing by. On Tuesday, Riley Duncan shared a video with the Facebook group Jones Countians. Duncan caught Maurice helping Contricia Hill climb the stairs.

Comments on the video praised the boy's kindness, multiple people calling him a sweet, young man.

"A lot of crazy is going on in the world with color," Maurice's mother told FOX 5. "I teach him not to see color and help everyone."

Maurice said it's inspiring that an 8-year-old can help an elderly woman up the stairs.
