Man accused of attempting to kill his roommate faces judge
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A man charged with attempting to kill his roommate stood before a Seminole County judge this morning, and moments later his alleged victim did as well.
Seminole County Judge Kenneth Lester read-out the accusation against 29-year-old Dennis Diaz. “You're charged with attempted homicide first-degree premeditated murder,” Lester said.
Deputies say Diaz shot Isaiah Dennis with a shotgun, hitting him in the shoulder. Deputies say it happened during an argument over paying the rent at their home in Altamonte Springs. They say Diaz lives in the garage at the house, which was converted into an apartment. They say Dennis lives in a shed behind the house.
The Judge Lester said, given the seriousness of the charge, he appointed counsel for Diaz on a provisional basis. Ironically, Isaiah Dennis - who deputies say Diaz shot - was also in the same courtroom today.
Deputies say after getting treated for his shotgun wound, Dennis showed up at a liquor store where he allegedly battered his live-in girlfriend. He’s facing a battery charge. Both Diaz and Dennis are being held without bond.
