Levy County sending resources to North Carolina
LEVY COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Levy County is assisting North Carolina as Hurricane Florence approaches them by sending two ambulances.
County officials say that the State of North Carolina requested five ambulance resource teams to be deployed in preparation for Hurricane Florence. As part of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), Levy County is sending two ambulances to North Carolina with personnel to join crews from Escambia, Osceola, and Walton County. They will support the local resources already on scene.
These responders will be deployed for at least seven. Levy County will reportedly be reimbursed for all costs associated with providing assistance.
Chief Mitch Harrell wants to assure the people of Levy County that the resources needed for calls of service in Levy County will still be met with these responders are gone. Part-time and full-time responders will cover any shift shortages that would be needed to ensure the safety of Levy County residents.
