Last chance for Orange County Surplus Auction approaching

Thursday is your last chance to check out the Orange County Surplus Auction.

The popular auction will be going online after this week’s event in an effort to attract more interested buyers.

Thousands of items are selling fast.

Pickup trucks, golf carts, exercise machines, heavy equipment and computers are just a fraction of the merchandise for sale at the Orange County surplus auction.

"You could buy a scoreboard from a little league field,” Orange County Comptroller Phil Diamond said.

This is the last year you can go and check out the items for yourself - next year the auction will move completely online.

"It's gonna let us do more sales during the year, sell items faster so they don't sit around in a warehouse or outside for as long,” Diamond said.

The winning bidders will stay have to pay cash and make their own arrangements to pick up their purchases, but they'll soon be able to bid from their couch.

The county is hoping that equals more buyers. Last year they pulled in over a half a million dollars.

"Our job is to get as much as we can as quickly as we can for the citizens of Orange County,” Diamond said.

The last day of the public auction is Thursday from 8am to 3pm. Anyone interested in attending can go to the Orange County Comptroller's website for more information.
