Kitten abandoned in local shelter's parking lot hit by car, now in critical condition
MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Manatee County Animal Services is seeking justice for a little kitten that was abandoned in their parking lot and hit by a car.
Officials with MCAS said in a Facebook post that the kitten was left in their parking lot on Monday afternoon. The kitten sustained life-threatening injuries and is currently in critical condition.
“We want to remind the public that animal abandonment is a crime,” animal services wrote on Facebook. “Any owner who abandons an animal and such animal suffers injury or malnutrition or abandons any animal in a street, road or public place, without providing care is guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree.”
The shelter is working with local law enforcement to find the person of interest.
Meanwhile, the staff have named the little kitten “Von,” which they say means “hope.”
On Friday, the shelter said that Von is doing better but not out of the woods yet.
