Homeowner shoots intruder, second suspect arrested
PALM COAST, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Flagler County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest following an early morning home invasion and shooting at a Palm Coast residence.
Deputies say they are is currently investigating an incident where two men armed with handguns entered the home around 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Once inside, they say the homeowner confronted the intruders, shooting one of them. That suspect died at the scene. The second suspect fled and was not located after deputies and a K-9 team searched the area. Detectives have iidentified the deceased as 28-year-old Victor James Betty, of Palm Coast.
Detectives said they identified the suspect who escaped, but before they could locate the man, he surrendered at the Sheriff's Office.
Detectives have obtained a warrant, charging 19-year- old Carl Devore, of Palm Coast, with second-degree felony murder and attempted home invasion robbery. He has been booked into the Flagler County Jail and is being held without bond.
Detectives said Devore and Betty armed themselves with weapons and went to the home seeking marijuana.
